Grey Lynn Villa

Description: The project included the construction of a double garage under an existing villa in Grey Lynn. The Special Character Overlay meant the alteration had to fit in with the streetscape of timber clad, iron roofed villas and bungalows.

A new awning was built over the garage door to delineate the existing villa from the garage. This awning uses the same materials and style as the existing roof, with corrugated iron and exposed rafters. The garage door is painted timber to match the existing painted timber window joinery and external doors. This creates a sympathetic addition to a character home to facilitate modern living.
